Miracles: A Selection from The Redd Family Collection of Black Art

Curation

Exhibition (Tubman Museum; Macon, GA): April 18, 2025 - June 28, 2025

Exhibited at the Tubman African American Museum, Miracles: A Selection from the Redd Family Collection of Black Art showcases the depth and diversity of Black artistic expression. Featuring over 800 works by celebrated artists such as Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Ernie Barnes, William Tolliver, and Kathleen Wilson, the exhibition honors the legacy of Miracles Fine Art Gallery in Macon, Georgia, which was the city’s first gallery dedicated to Black art.

The installation also includes the premiere exhibition of photography from The Four World Ages series and the debut screening of my documentary Miracles: The Redd Family Collection of Black Art, which traces the legacy of Melgenia and Vernon Redd, who founded Miracles Fine Art Gallery in 1990.

Together, the installation and film emphasize that Black cultural preservation is not only an act of honoring the past but also a living commitment passed across generations.
